Badgers Take a Set Against Lyndon

LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Lyndon improved its North Atlantic Conference (NAC) record to 3-2, and 3-7 overall, with an 8-1 victory over Johnson State Wednesday at the Dudley Bell Tennis Center. The visiting Badgers now stand 0-8 on the season and 0-4 in the NAC. 

Michael Howard and Tyler Schofield teamed up to defeat Johnson's Cole Hennessy (Colton, N.Y. / Colton-Pierrepont) and Cory Chase (Milton, Vt. / Milton) 8-3 in No. 1 doubles and the Hornet tandem of Tyler Hall and John Corey topped Chris Mitchell (Browington, Vt. / Lake Region) and Greg Davis (Philadelphia, Penn. / Samuel Fels) 8-0 in the second flight.

The duo of Michael Desmond and Chas Legge completed a sweep of doubles play for Lyndon, besting Zach Baughn (Clayton, N.Y. / LaFargeville Central) and Kemal Cross (Montpelier, Vt. / U-32) 8-0 in the No. 3 matchup.

In singles play, Howard beat Hennessy 6-1, 6-0 in first singles while Chase was awarded a win by retirement over Corey in No. 2 singles. Hall topped Mitchell 6-2, 6-3 in third flight singles and Weiner blanked Davis 6-0, 6-0 in No. 4 singles.

Legge (6-1, 6-0) and Desmond (6-0, 6-0) beat Baughn and Cross in fifth and sixth flight singles, respectively.
