Men's Tennis Drop Opening Match of 2020 Season to Spartans

RUTLAND, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's tennis team traveled to Castleton University to face off against the Spartans in the first match of the 2020 season. 

The Spartans opened up the day strong sweeping doubles action. Dylan Griffin and David Cosman dropped No.1 doubles to Jared Wheeler and Levi Williams by a score of 8-3. Patrick Bell and Kyle Robbins were edged in No.2 doubles by a score of 8-6. In the third and final doubles match it was Luke BuglionGluck and Tyler Ivone who dropped the match 8-0.

In singles play, Bell fell to Spencer Butter in a deciding set by scores of 7-6, 6-1 and 10-8. Bell earned the victory in set one. Robbins competed in No.4 singles and was edged by scores of 6-3, 6-2. The Spartans earned wins in the remaining singles matches to improve to 1-1 on the season.

With the loss the NVU-Johnson men's tennis team moves to 0-1 on the season and will face MCLA on Sunday, March 8.
