Badger Men's Track and Field Earn Impact Commitment from Bryunt Shields

JOHNSON, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's track and field program and Head Coach Shawn Woods announced earlier today the signing of Bryunt Shields for the 2021-2022 season.

Shields a native of Savannah Georgia and a student-athlete at H V Jenkins High School has signed the necessary paperwork and will arrive on campus in the fall of 2021. When arrived at NVU-Johnson, Shields plans to pursue degrees in sports management and physical therapy.

"I chose Northern Vermont University-Johnson for the opportunity to get out and explore more. It will be a good experience to meet new people and create new memories," said Shields.

During his time at H V Jenkins High School, Shields competed in the State Championship meet for both Cross Country, and Track and Field. Coach Woods believes that Shields will make an immediate impact to the program for the upcoming season.

"Bryunt is a very competitive track and field athlete who brings versatility to our program in both the running and jumping events," said Woods. "He is an impact athlete who will immediately be competitive in our conference. In addition, he is a certified lifeguard which will be an asset on our training/team building trips to the ocean beaches. He is excited to explore a different area of the country and we are happy to have him as a Badger."

"I am hoping and excited to learn more about Coach Woods and the track and field team once arrived on campus and I look forward to get started," Shields concluded.

Head Coach Shawn Woods plans to announce additional commitments in the near future for the 2022 men's track and field campaign.
