Lions Top Badgers, 3-0

Quincy, MA — The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's volleyball team was defeated 3-0 by the Eastern Nazarene College Lions on Saturday afternoon in the second match of the day for the Badgers. Johnson slides to 1-16 in the loss while Eastern Nazarene improves to 12-13.

The Lions won by scores of 25-9, 25-14, and 25-12. The Badgers were led by sophomore Randy Willette (Wolfeboro, NH) with three kills. Senior Nicholas Audet (Morrisville, VT) had six assists for the Badgers.

The Badgers opened the game with a 5-3 lead before the Lions charged out on a 7-0 run to take a 10-5 advantage. A handful of errors by the Lions and two kills by Randy Willette broke up the Lions' run, but they ultimately took the set by a score of 25-9. Early errors by the Lions in the second set kept the Badgers in the set as Johnson had a 9-8 lead early. Unable to find momentum of their own, the Badgers were unable to maintain the lead and the Lions took the set 25-14. Strong play by Jesse Streeter (Jericho, VT) early in the third set gave the Badgers a spark as they faced a four-point deficit halfway through the match. The Lions closed the set on a 13-5 run to take the third set by a score of 25-12.
