Badgers Fall in Non-Conference Road Match to Bears

POTSDAM, N.Y.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's volleyball team traveled to SUNY Potsdam to face the Bears in a non-conference match. The Bears earned the win by a score of 3-0 in the team's second match up of the season.

The Bears captured the sets by scores of 25-11, 25-19 and rallied late for a 25-23 win in the third and final set. 

Jesse Streeter earned a team high eight kills on the evening while freshman setter Jason Madrid led the Badgers with 18 assists, four digs and an ace. Senior middle hitter Michael Weston had seven digs and a block. Junior outside hitter Ryan Willette had six kills alongside his brother Randy, who had three kills. Freshman outside hitter Dominic Phelps (Lyndonville, N.Y./Lyndon Institute) had six digs.

Errors were the difference in the match as the Badgers racked up 27 errors to the Bears 12. Zaire Rogers was the top performer for the Bears racking up eight kills, nine digs, two blocks and an ace. 

With the loss the Badgers drop to 5-10 on the season and the SUNY Potsdam Bears improve to 4-10 overall.

The Badgers will travel to Regis College on Tuesday, March 17 to compete in a non-conference match. The match is set to begin at 6:00pm.
