Walters Leads Badgers on Road against SUNY Potsdam

POTSDAM, NY - The Vermont State University Johnson Men's Volleyball team traveled to Potsdam, NY to square off against the SUNY Potsdam Bears Wednesday for an evening double-header. The first matched proved to be the more consistent of the two for the Johnson Badgers, where they remained within reach through all three sets. Despite 6-2 runs in the first and second sets, alongside a 6-1 push in the third, the Badgers would drop the first match 3-0 (17-25, 18-25, 16-25). The second game of the evening started slowly, with the Badgers dropping the opening set 25-8. The Badgers did not lay down for the remainder of the matchup though, starting the second set with a series of traded points before opening up a 9-5 lead. Johnson maintained this set lead as late up to 13-12 before a five point swing would put the Bears ahead until closing. A stronger third set kept the Badgers within two points until an untimely four-point rally by the Bears widened their lead to from 18-15 to 22-15, closing the set 25-17 and the match 3-0.

Luke Walters once again led the Badgers on the day, posting 12 points, 12 kills, and 10 aces. Walters was joined by teammates Patrick Holmes, contributing 7 points, 11 digs, and 6 kills of his own, and by Sam Munson, adding 12 aces to the evening total.

The Badgers return to action Saturday morning for a doubleheader at Dean College, with game times set for 11 am and 1 pm.
