Cross Country Earns 6th at Vermont State Championships

The Badgers saw sophomores Brendan Walsh and Steven Lamonde finish in the top fifteen to secure a sixth place finish at the 2013 Vermont State Championship hosted by Castleton State College on Saturday. 

Johnson took sixth by scoring 132 points. Lyndon State took first place with a score of 27, followed by host Castleton State College with a score of 75. St. Mike's (DII) rounded out the top three with a score of 83. 

Walsh was Johnson's top finisher, taking tenth overall with his time of 28:03 while teamate Lamonde finished shortly after him with a 28:24, placing thirteenth. He was supported by Lamonde, Zach Levy, John Dabrowski, Jason Harris and Kyle Duffy all of whom ran personal bests.

Walsh, Lamonde and women's teammate Jill Porter made the all-state team with their top fifteen placement.

The Badgers have the week off before they return to action when they race at the Runnin' Monks Invitational hosted by St. Joe's on October 12th.
