Four Runners Represent Johnson at the 2014 New England Division III Regional Championships

Johnson's Brendan Walsh, Steven Lamonde, Zach Levy and Jill Porter represented Johnson State men's and women's cross country at the 2014 New England Division III Regional Championships hosted by Wlilliams College on Saturday. Nearly 400 runners from more than 50 teams competed in the men's 8k championship race while over 380 runners competed in the women's 6k race. 

Men's results:

With five runners in the top 21 places, Colby College won the Regional title with a score of 61 points.  Amherst College finished in second with 70 points.  With this performance, these two teams have automatically qualified for the NCAA Division III Championship. In third place were the Engineers of MIT, falling one point short of second place with a score of 71.  

Williams' Colin Cotton cruised to the finish line to take the victory in 25:10.  Johnson's Walsh came in 174th place in a time of 28:33 followed by Lamonde (30:08) and Levy (30:37).

Women's Results: 

The MIT women were victorious at the NCAA Div. 3 Regional hosted by Williams College at the Mount Greylock Regional High School's 6k course. The top teams were 1st place MIT with 40 points, 2nd place Middlebury with 65 points, 3rd place Williams with 95 points, 4th place Amherst with 127 points, 5th place Wellesley with 280 points, and 6th place Tufts with 207 points.

MIT's Sarah Quinn crossed the finish line in 21:39 to capture first place overall. Johnson's lone women's runner cross the finish in 26:22 capturing 235th place.
