Badgers Suffer Two Road Losses Against NEC

HENNIKER, N.H.—New England College softball grabbed two North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victories from visiting Johnson State College Badgers 3-2 in game one and 6-0 in game two. With the two wins, the Pilgrims improve to 12-14 on the season and 10-2 in NAC play.  The losses drop the Badgers to 6-14 overall and 3-9 in the NAC.

In game one the two teams battled through a scoreless three innings before Johnson would plate two runs in the top of the fourth as Tanya Randall (Fryeburg, Maine) would open the inning with a solo homerun over the left field fence, followed by another homerun off the bat of Andrea Williams (Thorborn, Nova Scotia) that would clear the center field fence.

The Pilgrims would not muster runs until the home half of the seventh inning as Elizabeth Harrigan (Weston, Conn.) would open the inning with a single, advance to second on a ground ball and pinch runner Briel Lofrano (Plymouth, N.H.) would score on a single by Kiley Williams (Salem, Utah).  NEC's Taylor Belsito (Millbury, Mass.) would reach on a fielder's choice and steal second putting both Williams and Belsito in scoring position with two outs.  Rebecca Allen (East Patchogue, N.Y.) would come up huge for the Pilgrims with a game-winning single up the middle scoring both Williams and Belsito.

Picking up the win on the mound for NEC was Olivia Stanley (Walpole, N.H.) who allowed two earned runs on six hits, while striking out four. NEC's Rebecca Allen finished the game 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs batted in.

Andrea Williams and Tanya Randall led the Badgers each finishing two hits.  On the mound for Johnson, Williams allowed three runs on seven hits, while picking up an impressive nine strike outs.

In game two NEC pitcher Elizabeth Harrigan would pitch a one-hit complete game en route to the 6-0 victory.
