Johnson Sweeps Lyndon in Conference Twinbill

In a rescheduled North Atlantic Conference (NAC) softball match-up the Johnson State College Badgers swept in-state foe, Lyndon State  7-1 and then 9-7. Johnson State improves to 2-10-8 on the year and 2-0 in the NAC while Lyndon slides to 1-13 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

During the first of two games, sophomore pitcher Andrea Williams threw a three hitter allowing just one run from 25 batters over the course of seven innings. Freshman Kelsey Taylor led her team going 3-for-4 in hitting while bringing in two RBIs. The Badgers saw runs from freshman Jennie Moore, Anna Bingham, Amanda Coulombe and Alex Macey, sophomores Alex Bean and Andrea Williams and senior Amanda Mclean.

Lyndon State's lone run came in the top of the sixth when senior Jena Finnegan plated sophomore Shelby Sheridan on a double shot.

Williams picked up the win for Johnson with 11 strike outs and only allowing three hits and one run while junior Katie Davis suffered the loss despite her six strike-outs.

Game two saw the Badgers sting Bay Path 9-7-0. Offensively, freshman Alex Macey led the Badgers, scoring twice in her three times at bat. The Badgers saw eight separate runners cross home plate over the course of seven innings.  

Lyndon's Shelby Sherridan, Dakota Crane and Jena Finnegan each knocked two in for the Hornets. Julia McNeil notched a run for the visitors.

Johnson's Andrea Williams picked up the win striking out 9 and allowing zero earned runs on six hits and not walking a batter. The Hornets' freshman Katie Davis was the losing pitcher giving up seven hits and five runs.

Johnson will travel to NEC tomorrow for a 3:00PM double header while Lyndon will travel to Husson University on Saturday April 12th for a 2:00PM DH.
