Terriers Sweep Badgers

Thomas College was able to grab two conference victories against Johnson State College today on senior day. Thomas took the first game 9-1, while taking the second game 3-1.

GAME ONE

The Terriers didn't wait long to get on the board, putting up four runs in the first inning. Kelsey Crowe singled to drive in Courtney Veilleux and Alyssa Eugley. Lauren Hachey came in to score on a throwing error by the catcher. Korie Laren grounded out to shortstop, allowing Brianne Gonzalez.

The Badgers pushed a run across in the top half of the third inning when Amanda McLean advanced to second on a throwing error, allowing her to come around to score, cutting the lead to 4-1 

Thomas scored the next five runs to reach the eight run mercy rule. Kate Thibodeau scored on an error by the catcher in the bottom of the fourth, Crowe hit a two-run homerun in the bottom of the fifth and Eugley hit a two-run homerun in the bottom of the sixth. 

Crowe picked up the win for the Red and Black, throwing six innings, allowing one run of six hits, striking out two and walking none. Williams took the loss for Johnson, allowing seven runs on nine hits in five innings of work, striking out two and walking two.

GAME TWO

Johnson struck first in game two on a single from Emily Himberg, scoring Andrea Williams. In the bottom of the fourth inning Thibodeau would connect with a pitch to hit her first collegiate homerun, a two run shot to give the Terriers a 2-1 lead.

Eugley would add some insurance, belting her second homerun of the day and giving her team a 3-1 lead.

Faith Robinson got the win for the Thomas, allowing one run on six hits in 6.3 innings of work and striking out six. Williams took the loss for the Badgers, throwing six innings, allowing three runs on six hits, striking out eight and walking one.

Thomas ends the regular season and now waits for final seeding for the North Atlantic Conference tournament.
