Clermont, FL- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's softball team dropped their first game of the day against Rose-Hulman by a score of 14-3 and lasted through five innings.
Rose-Hulman found a hot start against the Badgers taking a quick 3-0 lead after the first inning while holding the Badgers scoreless in the top of the first. In the second stint of action Rose-Hulman was able to ignite their offense and take a comfortable lead as they scored seven runs in the second inning.
The Badgers were able to score their first runs of the day after Jordan Galluzo (Tunbridge, Vt.) reached base after getting hit by a pitch and the Engineers committed an error off of a hit by Annika Dyhrberg (Falmouth, ME) to advance Galluzo to third. With two on base Emily Marshall earned her first RBI of the season advancing off a single shot to advance Galluzo and Dyhrberg home. Savannah Dufrense (Swanton, Vt.) followed order as she also hit a single to advance Lindsey LaPerle (Bethel, Vt.) home.
Rose-Hulman would finish the fourth inning with two more runs and hold the Badgers scoreless in the fifth to secure the victory with a final score of 14-3.
