LONGMEADOW, MA- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson softball team traveled to Bay Path University on Thursday afternoon for a non-conference doubleheader. The Wildcats captured the victory over NVU-Johnson in five innings by a score of 12-0.
Kimberly Reville recorded the only hit for the Badgers in the contest. To open up the game the Badgers connected on the ball as Savannah Dufresne grounded out to second base. Emily Marshall popped out for the second out to the infield and Madison Goodhart recorded her first strikeout of the contest as Lindsey LaPerle struck out looking.
The Wildcats opened up the bottom of the first inning strong as they scored five runs in the inning. Nicole Mooney recorded all three outs in the inning recording her only strike out of the game for the first out of the contest. The Badgers eventually closed the inning after Mooney scooped a ground ball and made the routine play to first, followed by a pop out.
The Wildcats held the Badgers hitless in the second and third inning while adding six more runs to advance the lead to 11-0 and eventually closed out the game winning 12-0. Madison Goodhart recorded game high ten strikeouts.
With the loss the Badgers drop to 3-12 overall. Bay Path improves to 3-11 on the season.
