LONGMEADOW, MA- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson softball team recorded the first run in the final game of the doubleheader at Bay Path University but eventually fell by a score of 7-1.
Savannah Dufrense opened up the game by knocking a shot down the right field line that resulted in a triple. Emily Marshall laid down a bunt and a Wildcat error allowed for Marshall to advance to second while Dufrense crossed the plate providing the first run for the Badgers. The Wildcats worked their way out of the top of the inning after recording three consecutive outs.
The Badgers held the Wildcats scoreless in the bottom of the first but couldn't capitalize on any scoring opportunities through the next two innings. The Wildcats scored three runs off three hits in the second and third to take a 3-1 lead.
The Badgers struggled to find a rhythm offensively and were hitless through the remainder of the game. The Wildcats recorded four more runs to close the game out with a 7-1 victory. The Wildcats had four players record two hits and were led by right fielder Marissa Sarna-McCarthy who recorded two hits and two RBI's.
Marshall pitched six innings while recording six strikeouts. With the loss the Badgers fall to 3-13 on the season and Bay Path University improves to 5-11.

The Badgers will travel to SUNY Canton this Sunday, April 14 to face off in a North Atlantic Conference double-header.
