Women's Softball Celebrate Senior Day

JOHNSON, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's softball program is celebrating its Senior Day virtually and recognizing the programs lone senior Lindsey LaPerle.

A four-year member of the women's softball program, LaPerle comes to NVU-Johnson from Bethel, Vermont. Throughout her career LaPerle appeared in 67 games with 163 at bats. LaPerle recorded 34 hits with three doubles and two triples. Throughout her career, LaPerle has batted in 12 runs and has stolen six bases. LaPerle saw most of her time at the shortstop position but was versatile enough to play multiple positions for the Badgers.

Head Coach Stacey Fox in just her second year at the helm of the program is thankful for her opportunity to coach LaPerle. "Lindsey has been a captain on the softball team for the past two years.  She brings great leadership to the program and thrives under pressure when her team needs her the most." Said Fox.  "She always executes whether it is a clutch hit with baserunners on or making a difficult play to get us out of an inning.  Lindsey spent most of her innings as our starting shortstop but was the kind of athlete that could play any position and not skip a beat.  Not only will she be missed for her athletic ability on the field, but also for her positivity and humor that kept the team in good spirits."

The 2020 season concluded for LaPerle on February 29 after the NVU-Johnson softball team returned home from The Spring Games in Clermont, Florida. Throughout the first ten games of the season LaPerle recorded seven hits with a batting average of .292. LaPerle had a strong performance in the field throughout the first ten games of the 2020 season as she earned a fielding percentage of .816.

The Badgers thank Lindsey for her contributions to Badgers softball and to NVU-Johnson athletics as a whole and we wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors.
