Softball Captures Convincing Win against Purchase

MYRTLE BEACH, SC – The Vermont State University Johnson softball team closed out their competitive trip in Myrtle Beach with a victory against the Purchase College Panthers. The top of the half in the opening frame set the tone for the Johnson Badgers, where back-to-back doubles by Dallas Roark and Gabi Lafreniere highlighted the four-run first inning. A dominating second inning found the Badgers batting around the order, where they capitalized on multiple basses-loaded opportunities and drove in an additional seven runs. Lafreniere and Audrey Tembreull contributed two RBIs apiece in the frame, made possible by patient looks from their teammates on base, where Grace Allen, Regan Crowe, and Roark forced three straight walks.

The Badgers would go on to drive in three addition runs to walk away with a 14-6 win, their first of the season. This rounded out a four game stretch over two days, where the Badgers went 1-3 (Monroe CC: L, 8-4, Shawnee St: L, 13-0, Olney Central CC: L, 10-1, Purchase: W, 14-6).

Johnson returns to the field for a double-header March 16th at Anna Maria, with game times set for 12 pm and 2 pm.
