Crowe Dominates, Pitches Season's First No-Hitter

CANTON, NY – Regan Crowe put on a show of dominance in game one of a doubleheader against SUNY Canton Wednesday afternoon, where she excelled both on the mound and behind the plate. The first-year utility player from Avalon, MO completed a no-hitter in game one of the series, shutting down 15 batters in just 17 at-bats, en route to an 8-0 conference game victory.

The tone was set early in game one, as the first inning saw Crowe not just strike out the side in 14 pitches, but also bring that momentum into the batter's box as she drilled a solo home run over the fence in her first at-bat of the game. The first inning wrapped in Johnson's favor, 2-0, as Gabi Lafreniere's single down the right field line sent teammate Taylor Reddick home, adding to Crowe's earlier run.

The action continued in the bottom of the third, as Crowe led off with another extra base knock, doubling to left field, to then be advanced home thanks to a left-center single by sophomore teammate, Audrey Tumbreull. In all, the Badgers were dominant up and down their roster, with eight players securing hits, four contributing two each (Crowe, Tembruell, Nikki Sweet, and Matea Smith), while six Badgers added RBIs.

In game two of the series, the Badgers put up a fight but couldn't overcome an early deficit that saw the Roos open with a 5-run first and 4-run second. Despite dropping the second game 12-4, the Badgers managed eight hits to the Roos nine, with six Badgers contributing hits and three knocking in runs. Turtle Trancosa and Taylor Reddick each went 2-4, with Trancosa powering a double in the bottom of the third, while Crowe reached base three times (single and two walks).

The Badgers return to the diamond at home this Saturday for a doubleheader against Morrisville State, with opening pitch scheduled for 1pm.
