The Johnson Badgers opened their 2025 season with a doubleheader against Grand Rapids CC and Brunswick CC Monday afternoon. The games mark the beginning of a full week of play in Myrtle Beach, where the Badgers will play ten games in six days. Johnson dropped their first two games against CRCC and BCC 13-0 and 10-1, respectively.
SUMMARY
The Badgers started strong against GRCC in game #1, holding the Raiders to one run in the first. Taylor Reddick and Audrey Tembreull were the lone Badgers to reach base in game #1 with one walk apiece, finding their groove behind the plate, along with their teammates in the first game of the season. In Kristie Zator's two at-bats against GRCC, she drove a hard liner to first and deep fly to center, just missing gaps to notch her first hits of the season. The Badgers would go on to drop the GRCC matchup 13-0.
Returning to the field against Brunswich CC, the Johnson saw two Badgers secure multi-hit performances as Reddick and Gabi Lafreniere each notched two singles. Tembreull and Nikki Sweet joined their teammates on base, as Tembreull added a single while Sweet drew a walk. Three straight singles from Tembreull, Reddick, and Lefreniere accounted for the Badgers' first run of the year, as Lefreniere's single drove in Tembreull from second. Brunswick took game #2 with a final score of 10-1.
