The Johnson Badgers returned to the diamond for day two in Myrtle Beach with a doubleheader against Southeastern CC and SUNY Delhi Tuesday afternoon. Johnson saw eight runners reach base in their 1pm matchup against Southeastern, ultimately dropping the game 6-3, while Delhi took game #2 in 14-1.
SUMMARY
Johnson struck first against Southeastern, as a two-out, three-single rally in the first saw Grace Allen drive in Taylor Reddick from second. The Badgers capitalized on passed balls with aggresive baserunning to score an additional two runs by Kristie Zator and Allen. Hannah Corvino followed a strong team offensive performance with a high level of power from the mound, striking out six in the first three innings. After fanning one more Ram, Zator took over on the mound to close out the final three innings, recording one strikeout and allowing only one unearned run. The Rams would take the game with a final score of 6-3.
Following their competitive performance, the Badgers returned to the diamond to face the SUNY Delhi Broncos. A strong Bronco team limited the Badgers offensively, though a trio of hits from Zator, Audrey Tembreull, and Gabi Lafreniere accounted for several highlights: the Badgers first extra base hit of the season (Zator's deep-to-center triple) and a four-game on-base streak (Tembreull). The Broncos came out on top with a final score of 14-1.
