Johnson Downs Lyndon 75-53

Johnson State College placed three players in double figure scoring as the Badgers walked off with a to a 75-53 win over visiting Lyndon State College. With the win, the Badgers advance to 4-7 overall and 4-2 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play while the Hornets drop to 1-9 overall and 1-5 in the conference.

Brittany Robertson led her team with 14 points to go with 6 rebounds two assists and one steal. Domonique Carter-Stanley tallied 12 points and two assists as well as pulling down seven boards and snagging four seals. Teammate Kasey DeGreenia contributed 10 points for the Badgers in their winning effort. 

For the Hornets, Mikayla Hodge was the lone player to tally double-digits as she notched a game high 18 points overall. 

The in-state rivals both got off to a slow start as each team only had five points on the board four minutes into play. Lyndon temporarily changed the pace at the 14:53 mark going on a 10-4 run to go ahead 15-9. Johnson used the next three minutes of play to knot things up with the visitors 18-18 with four minutes remaining in the opening stanza. A jumper from DeGreenia gave the Badgers a two point lead, only to see Hodge answer with two made free-throws and a bucket to give the narrow 22-20 lead back to the Hornets. Johnson banked two shots and a free throw to go ahead 27-24 to close out the opening half. 

Johnson opened up scoring in the second half with two made free-throws from Robertson and never looked back. Johnson went up by as many as 28 points in the second half, largely silencing the Hornets offense and nearly doubled its scoring from the first half. The Badgers saw its bench contribute 23 of the 48 points scored for a balanced attack that has begun to define this year's team. The Badgers closed out the half with a comfortable win, 75-53.

Johnson went 27-73 from the paint to Lyndon's 13-63.

Johnson State will travel to Castleton for a 5:30pm tilt on Thursday the 15th for another NAC contest while Lyndon will host Fisher on Sunday for a 1:00pm tip off.
