MIDDLEBURY, VT. – The Johnson State College women's basketball team was defeated by Middlebury College 62-34 in Pepin Gymnasium on Tuesday evening.
The Badgers fall to 2-2, while Middlebury improves to 3-0 on the season.
1st Quarter
Both teams remained scoreless until around the 4:30 mark when the Panthers hit a three. That was quickly answered with a jump shot from Domonique Carter-Stanley (Norwalk, Conn.). The Badgers would not score again until Kaitlyn Brouard (Milton, Vt.) hit a last second three to make the game 11-5 in the hosts favor.
2nd Quarter
Johnson State and Middlebury would each only score seven points each in the quarter. The Badgers would answer every basket that the Panthers made, making the score at the half 18-12, still in the Panthers favor.
3rd Quarter
The Badgers struggled coming out of the half, allowing the Panthers to go on a 13-0 run until Carter-Stanley made a jump shot to get the Badgers on the board in the quarter. The Panthers would keep rolling, however, and ended the third quarter up 45-28.
4th Quarter
The Panthers started the last quarter with much of the same success from the previous quarter, pushing the lead to a game high 30 until Sarah Voorhis (Nashua, N.H.) was fouled and hit both of her free throws. The Panthers closed out the game on top, 62-34.
Johnson Leaders
Carter-Stanley led the Badgers with 11 points, while Kasey DeGreenia (Concord, Vt.) pulled down 11 rebounds and dished out a team best four assists.
Nichols Leaders
Colleen Caveney paced Middlebury with 15 points, while Sarah Kaufman chipped in with nine points. Catherine Harrison chipped in with eight points and 11 rebounds.
Stat Breakdown
The Panthers owned the stat lines on the night, holding the Badgers to just 23% from the floor, 29 rebounds, five assists, while forcing 19 turnovers. The Panthers shot 35% from the floor, collected 54 rebounds and racked up 14 assists while turning the ball over just 13 times.

The Badgers will travel to New England College on Saturday, December 3rd for their first North Atlantic Conference game, slated to start at 3:00 PM.
