JOHNSON, Vt. – The Johnson State College women's basketball team fell to Maine Maritime Academy 73-54 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contest on Saturday afternoon at Carter Gym.
The Badgers drop to 2-13 (1-9 NAC) on the season while the Mariners move to 9-6 (5-4 NAC).
1st QUARTER
The Mariners got out to an early lead, taking an 11-3 lead five minutes in. After a Kaitlyn Brouard (Milton, Vt.) basket made it 11-5, the Mariners rallied off eight straight points to take a 19-5 lead after one.
2nd QUARTER
The Badgers came out on a 7-4 run to start the second, but six straight Mariner points halted their momentum to make the score 29-12. The teams traded baskets through the rest of the quarter to bring the score to 35-19 in favor of MMA at the half.
3rd QUARTER
The Mariners dominated the third quarter, outscoring Johnson 21-8 to pull their lead to 56-27 going into the final quarter.
4th QUARTER
The teams traded baskets through the fourth, with Johnson outscoring MMA by a slim 18-17 margin, as the Mariners took the 73-45 victory.
