Fisher Outlasts Women's Basketball in NVU Tip-Off Classic

LYNDONVILLE, Vt.- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's basketball struggled to find a rhythm and were held to a low shooting percentage from the floor on the opening night of the NVU Tip-Off Classic.

In Friday night's opening game, Fisher pulled away from NVU-Johnson for a 65-33 victory.  Misha O'Neal came off the bench to lead the Falcons with 19 points.  Kiana Johnsonwas the Badgers' only double figure scorer with 12 points and added a pair of rebounds. Ellery Kieferpulled down a game high nine rebounds.

In the first stint of action the Badgers built an early 7-2 lead off baskets from Kiefer and newcomer Cheyann Tooman. Fisher was able to chip at the lead and eventually took the lead with just one-minute remaining in the quarter. In the second quarter it was Fisher that took a commanding lead from an initial 7-1 scoring run. The game remained in their favor throughout the quarter as the Badgers went into the half trailing 31-17. In the third quarter it was Fisher that remained in control by pushing the pace and holding the Badgers to 25.0% shooting from the floor. 

 

Misha O'Neal scored a game high 19 points on 8-15 shooting and paced Fisher throughout the second half to earn the win.

 

The Tip-Off Classic will conclude on Saturday afternoon.  Rivier and NVU-Johnson will get things started with a 1:00pm tip.
