Johnson Rolls Past Vermont Tech 14-0

JOHNSON, Vt. – Johnson State College picked up their first win of the early season on Saturday at Mineart Field by having 11 different players record goals and rolling past visiting Vermont Technical College 14-0 in women's non-conference soccer action.

Ally Bataille (Waterbury, Vt./Harwood), Jen Ferrari (Westfield, Mass./Westfield), and Chelsea Hostetter (Morrisville, Vt./Peoples) each tallied a pair of scores on the day to pace the Badgers offense with Ferrari adding a pair of assists.  Amanda Frawley (Westford, Vt./Essex) scored a goal and dealt out three assists.  Kyleigh Joseph (Hancock, N.H./ConVal) and Kelsie Perdue (Barre, Vt./Spaulding) each accounted for a goal and an assist while singles goals came from Sarah Clifford (Alton, N.H./Lakes Region), Christen Harrington (Cambridge, Vt./Lamoille), Amber McCullock (Morrisville, Vt./Peoples), Courtney Newman (Underhill, Vt./Mount Mansfield), and Ashley Wentzell (Bradford, Vt./Oxbow).  Stephanie Fay (Essex Junction, Vt./Essex), Bambi Patch (Johnson, Vt./Lamoille), and Mariah Palmer (St. Albans, Vt./BFA-St. Albans) all had an assist on the day for JSC.

JSC's Kelley Lucia (West Chazy, N.Y./Clinton County CC) needed one save to earn the victory in goal while Vermont Tech's Abbie Senesac (Williston, Vt./Champlain Valley) had a busy day making 17 stops.

The game's first 10 minutes saw competitive action but Bataille's goal in the 11th minute opened what would be a potent offensive day for JSC.

The Green Knights were down only 4-0 at the half but with minimal bodies available on the bench for VTC, a temperature and humidity that made the teams feel as though they were playing in a sauna, and excellent play from Johnson led to a 10-goal second half for JSC as they coast to the victory.

Johnson will host Daniel Webster College in their next contest on Saturday, September 10 at 1:00 pm while VTC moves on to host the University of Maine-Presque Isle tomorrow at 12 pm.
