Johnson Women's Soccer Topped By Plattsburgh In Opener

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - Johnson women's soccer was topped by host Plattsburgh State University 5-0 on Saturday in the team's season opener and opening round of the Cardinal Classic Tournament.

The Cardinals (1-0, 0-0 SUNYAC) received two goals from Renee Egan (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) in the win.  Freshman Megan Colby (Clintonville, N.Y.) got the Cardinals going in the fourth minute with she fired a shot that lofted over the head of Johnson (0-1, 0-0 NAC) goaltender Katja Langmaid (Enosburg Falls, Vt./Enosburg). Kristie Pageau (Dannemora, N.Y.) buried a pass from Ashley Pagano (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y) in the 27th minute before Egan's shot rebounded off Langmaid to give Plattsburgh a 3-0 lead at the half.

Johnson will now face Lyndon State College on Sunday at 11:00 am in the consolation round with the Hornets falling to Keene State College 6-0.

Junior Taylor Cammer (Jefferson, N.Y./Jefferson Central) was credited with the only Johnson shot on the day.

Langmaid made 15 saves for Johnson while a pair of Cardinal keepers split the game and did not record a save.
