Johnson Earns Exciting 2OT Win Over Lyndon

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - Johnson women's soccer picked up their first win of season on Sunday in the consolation game of the Plattsburgh State Cardinal Classic edging Lyndon State College 1-0 in double overtime.  Johnson improves to 1-1, 0-0 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) while Lyndon stands at 0-2, 0-0 NAC.

Junior Amanda Frawley (Westford, Vt./Essex) scored the game's only goal in the 103rd minute of the match on an unassisted effort beating Lyndon keeper Larissa Bargfrede (Baltimore, Vt.) to end the thrilling contest.

Sophomore goalkeeper Katja Langmaid (Enosburg Falls, Vt./Enosburg) made several impressive stops and collected five saves en route to the shutout win.  Langmaid was also naed to the all-tournament team.

Bargfrede made two saves in relief of Emily Strese (Gilmanton, N.H.) who also made a pair of stops.

The Badgers, who held a 15-7 edge in shots and a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks in the match, will now play at Curry College on Saturday, September 8 at 12:00 pm in their next contest and face Newbury College on Sunday at 11:00 am before opening their NAC schedule at Green Mountain College on Saturday, September 15.
