Women's soccer coasts by Green Mountain 6-2

POULTNEY, Vt. - Johnson women's soccer raced out to an early 3-0 lead and did not look back as they defeated host Green Mountain College 6-2 on Saturday in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opener for both teams.  Johnson improves to 3-2, 1-0 NAC while Green Mountain sits at 0-6, 0-1 NAC.

First-year midfielder Kylie Kellard (Danvers, Mass./Danvers) scored the first of two goals on the day just four minutes and junior Amanda Frawley (Westford, Vt./Essex) and freshman Alexa Jakiela (Middlebury, Conn./Pomperaug) (pictured) each recorded a goal and an assist.  Senior Ally Bataille (Waterbury, Vt./Harwood) and junior Taylor Cammer (Jefferson, N.Y./Jefferson Central) each added a single goal.

Frawley's goal in the 18th minute was sandwiched by Kellard's goals in the first half before GMC's Alexandra Hilliard put the Eagles on the board before half as the teams went to intermission with a 3-1 score.

Bataille's goal in 59th minute gave the Badgers a three-goal cushion until Kim Blank scored for Green Mountain in the 61st minute.  But just seconds later Jakiela would get that goal back tapping in a rebound off of GMC keeper Kim Simonetti.

Johnson's Katja Langmaid (Enosburg Falls, Vt./Enosburg) made three saves in the shutout effort while Simonetti finished with eight as the Badgers owned a significant 27-5 shot advantage on the day.

JSC will face non-conference foe SUNY Canton on Sunday at 2:00 pm in their next contest while Green Mountain will play at Colby-Sawyer on Saturday, September 22.
