Badgers fight for 2-1 come-from-behind win at Thomas

WATERVILLE, Maine - Johnson women's soccer won their fourth straight match and fifth in six tries by beating host Thomas College 2-1 on Friday night in come-from-behind fashion.  The Badgers are now 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC).  Thomas dips to 2-5 overall, 0-2 NAC.

Johnson saw the host Terriers net a first-half score in the 43rd minute when Kajsa Kaufeldt slipped behind the JSC defense and took a feed from Bronte Howorth and beat keeper Katja Langmaid (Enosburg Falls, Vt./Enosburg) for the first goal of the game.

The Badgers' Shannon Grier (Plainfield, Vt./Twinfield) (pictured) came through the equalizer in the 54th minute drilling a shot past Thomas netminder Kate Thibodeau to make the score 1-1.

Ten minutes later senior Ally Bataille (Waterbury, Vt./Harwood) would lift Johnson into the lead collecting a rebounded ball off a Kylie Kellard (Danvers, Mass./Danvers) free kick to account for the eventual final score of 2-1.

Langmaid made five saves in the win while Thibodeau recorded 10 stops.

Johnson returns home for a non-conference tilt with Fisher College on Saturday while Thomas will face Maine-Fort Kent on Sunday in Waterville.
