Johnson ties Lyndon 1-1 in women's soccer

LYNDON CENTER, Vt. - Johnson women's soccer played to a double overtime 1-1 draw at Lyndon State College on Saturday in a key North Atlantic Conference (NAC) showdown.  The Badgers are now 6-4-2, 2-1-2 NAC while the Hornets sit at 2-9-1, 0-4-1 NAC.

Johnson jumped in front in the game's fifth minute when Amanda Frawley (Westford, Vt./Essex) (pictured) took a feed from Alexa Jakiela (Middlebury, Conn./Pomperaug) and beat LSC goalie Samantha Smith giving the Badgers an early lead.

Lyndon would knot the game at 1-1 in the 26th minute when Emily Strese scored off a Kajay Rooke assist. 

There the score would remain through the two extra sessions despite Johnson earning a 19-13 shot advantage and a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.

Keeper Katja Langmaid (Enosburg Falls, Vt./Enosburg) made six saves for JSC while Smith recorded nine stops for Lyndon.

Johnson will move on to play at Colby-Sawyer and New England College next weekend both pivotal NAC contests.
