Johnson drops tough 2-1 OT decision at NEC
HENNIKER, N.H.— New England College women's soccer first-year midfielder Alyssa Krause (Northfield, Vt.) would score with 1:42 remaining in the first overtime lifting the Pilgrims past the visiting Johnson State College Badgers 2-1 Saturday afternoon.
 
With the win the Pilgrims improve to 6-8-1 overall and 2-4-0 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play.  The loss drops the Badgers to 6-5-2 on the season and 2-2-2 in conference play.
 
New England College forward Kristen Walker (Franklin, Mass.) would net the lone goal of the opening half in the 17th minute as she would put in a pass through the middle from Jillian Zanine (Bethel, Conn.).
 
Johnson's best scoring opportunity of the half would come in the 31st minute as senior Ally Bataille (Waterbury, Conn.) would fire a free-kick off the crossbar.
 
The Badgers would get on the board in the 63rd minute as Bataille would intercept a Pilgrim free-kick and feed Chelsea Hostetter (Morrisville, Vt.) (pictured) who would net her second goal of the season knotting the game at 1-1.
 
The two teams would battle through the remainder of regulation scoreless as the Pilgrims would hold the 18-11 advantage in shots.
 
The Pilgrims would come up huge in overtime as Krause would put in a pass from senior Samantha Levine (Windham, Maine) lifting NEC to the 2-1 victory.
 
Picking up the win in goal for NEC was Tricia Sardagnola (Shrewsbury, Mass.) who finished with seven saves.  In goal for Johnson was Katja Langmaid (Enodburg Falls, Vt.) who had an impressive 12 saves in net.
 
NEC returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 14 when they host NAC opponent Lyndon State College.  Johnson will also play on Sunday, Oct. 14 when they travel to take on conference opponent Colby-Sawyer
