Chargers slip by Johnson 1-0 in 2OT

NEW LONDON, N.H. - Johnson State College women's soccer suffered their second consecutive overtime loss on Sunday falling 1-0 at Colby-Sawyer College in overtime.  Johnson dips to 6-6-2, 2-3-2 in the NAC while Colby-Sawyer improves to 10-2-3, 6-0-1 NAC.

The two teams met twice last season and played to a 0-0 tie each time.  The second meeting was in the the NAC playoffs and the Chargers advanced on penalty kicks.

Freshman Tallon Tomasi (Berkshire, Vt.) broke a streak of 323 consecutive scoreless minutes between Colby-Sawyer and Johnson State dating back to last season.  Tomasi broke out on a counter attack and scored the game-winner on an assist from Adrienne Bender (Wakefield, R.I.).

Johnson keeper Katja Langmaid (Enosburg Falls, Vt.) made 15 saves for Johnson including several spectacular diving efforts.  Senior Shay Spencer (Natick, Mass.) made three saves en route to her sixth shutout of the season.

The Badgers move on to face Castleton State College on Thursday at 3:30 pm while Colby-Sawyer will face Worcester State in non-conference play on Wednesday at 3:30 pm.
