Pilgrims Tame Badgers

The visiting Pilgrims traveled to Johnson and cruised to a win over the hometown Badgers Sept. 29 beating the home squad 3-0. The Pilgrims improve to 4-5-2 overall and 2-1 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play while the Badgers dip to 4-5 on the season and 1-3 in the NAC.

Alyssa Krause connected on a shot from 22 yards out that caromed off the cross bar where teammate Kristen Walker finished the play after shooting the rebounded ball past Badgers keeper Amber McCullock, which gave the Pilgrims an early 1-0 lead.

The Pilgrims followed up with a second goal in the 20th minute when Kristen Walker evaded the Badgers defense and scored unassisted off a shot that found the upper right of the net. After the Walker goal the Badgers trailed 2-0.

The score would remain 2-0 heading into the second stanza, until in the 53rd minute when New England College struck again to extend their lead to 3-0. Pilgrim Alyssa Krause struck again, as she deked her way past the Johnson defense until she rifled a shot past an out-sprawled Badgers keeper Amber McCullock. The Pilgrims never looked back and concluded the day with a 3-0 victory.
