Hornets Blank  Badgers 2-0

The Lyndon State women's soccer team defeated host Johnson State College, 2-0, Saturday afternoon in the Badgers' final conference match of the regular season. The win improves the Hornets to 4-11,1-7 North Atlantic Conference (NAC), while the Badgers fall to 6-9,3-5 NAC on the season.

The hosts held Lyndon to a 0-0 deadlock for the entire opening stanza. Both teams put up 9 shots but were unable to capitalize.  

In the 50th minute a scuffle in front of the net created an opportunity for Sarah Cornell, who collected a rebound and passed goalie Amber McCullock to put the Hornets ahead 1-0. The Hornets continued their momentum putting Lyndon on the board again in the 65th minute with an unassisted goal from Emily Strese to give Lyndon the 2-0 advantage. 

By the numbers, the teams were even with identical shots on goal (16-16) while Lyndon had a slight edge in corner kicks (5-3). Marley Harmon made nine stops for the shutout win while McCullock turned away 8 shots on the day for the Badgers and was saddled with the loss.

Both teams will await official quarterfinal playoff pairings for next weekend, November 2nd.
