Beavers Down Badgers 3-1

The UMaine-Farmington women's soccer team  (3-6) took advantage of free kick opportunities and defeated North Atlantic Conference (NAC) foe Johnson State (7-4, 2-2) on Saturday at Prescott Field.

Alexandra Crocker scored her second goal of the season off a rebound in the 16th minute.  Katie Clark's free kick was saved by Badger goalie Amber McCullock, but could not control the shot. Crocker found herself with the rebound and netted the goal to give the Beavers the early 1-0 lead.

The scoreboard would stay the same until Johson's Kylie Aither evened the score in the 57th minute.

UMF would regain the lead on another free kick in the 75th minute on a play similar to the game's first goal. Sara Quimby took a free kick and her shot on goal was saved by McCullock, but McCullock could not secure the ball. Denault booted the rebound between posts for her first goal of the season.

Bridget Humphrey scored an insurance goal with 3:05 left in the game on a breakway. Humphrey dashed up the sideline past the Badger defense until she was one-on-one with McCullock. Humphrey kicked a grounder past McCullock into the bottom left of the goal.

UMF keeper Sam Hatch recorded three saves while McCullock saved 12 shots.

UMaine-Farmington will travel to Maine Maritime Academy on Tuesday, October 7th to continue conference play while Johnson will visit Green Mountain on the same day for a 1:00pm game.
