Aither Comes Up Big for Badgers

The Johnson State College women's soccer team walked off with a 5-1 victory over visiting Me.-Farmington. Kylie Aither posted four of the host's five goals in a standout performance. Johnson advanced to 2-5 on the year and 1-0 in the conference while Me.-Farmington slid to 2-3 on the year and 0-1 in North Atlantic Conference play.

Johnson capitalized in the opening stanza when junior Maddison Prescott took advantage of a loose ball and placed it in the upper right corner. Riding the momentum, the Badgers quickly sent Aither into box again off the kick off for the second goal of the game. With more than 80 minutes to play, the hosts began to settle into their rhythm. The Beavers held the Badgers at bay for 34 scoreless minutes until Aither broke loose. After scoring two beautiful solo goals and a penalty kick, the Badgers headed into the half up 5-0.

The Beavers did break through in the 60th minute when Dayle Jordan received and converted a cross from Ashley Gleason to put the visitors on the board, but the score would remain 5-1 until the final whistle.

The Badgers' goalkeeper, Nichole Weeks stopped an impressive 15 shots on goal while her counterpart Sam Hatch made five saves and was saddled with the loss.

The Badgers return to action when they host Green Mountain College on Tuesday for a 5:00pm game.
