Badgers Unable to Stop Eagles in 7-1 Loss

Husson rolled to 7-1 win over Johnson State  on Saturday in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory at Boucher Field. 

Husson (4-5-1, 1-2 NAC) scored three first-half goals in the triumph. Leah Hibbad scored just 3:42 into the game from 20 yards out when she went top shelf.Alison Boulier made the score 2-0 in the 25th minute with an assist from Sydney Costa. A Brooke LaBelle goal in the 29th minute rounded out the scoring in the first 45 minutes.

Sydney Costa found LaBelle  in the box off a free kick in the 76th minute to make the score 4-0.

Johnson State (3-6, 2-2 NAC) tallied its lone goal Saturday in the 79th minute when Kaitlin Boucher kicked the ball into the bottom right corner of the net. The goal was the Badgers first in the last seven meetings and just the second in the 13, but the Eagles answered with three goals in an eight-minute span to conclude the match.

Costa scored on a breakaway from 28 yards out with aid by LaBelle in the 81st minute to give Husson a four-goal upper hand. A Maddie Page to Meghan Catanese connection on a cross into the box in the 88th minute made the score 6-1. Katey Curtis found the back of the net 1:02 later for the final margin.

LaBelle totaled two goals and an assist. Costa had two assists. LaBelle and Hibbad each had five shots.

Husson outshot Johnson State 34-7 and held a 5-0 edge in corner kicks.

Goalkeeper Kayla Gordon (3-3-1) made three saves in 82:49 for the win. Jordyn Hopkins had two saves in the final 7:11. Netminder Nichole Weeks (2-4) had 16 saves in the loss.

Husson hosts Lyndon State (Vt.) on Sunday at 1 p.m. while the Badgers return to action against Maine Maritime for a kickoff at 1:00pm.
