Late Surge Propels Badgers to 3-1 Victory

Two late, second-half goals from junior Maddison Prescott elevated Johnson State Badgers to a 3-1 victory over Lyndon Saturday in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play in Johnson, Vt. With the win  the Badgers advance to 5-9 overall and 3-5 in NAC play while Lyndon finishes its season 1-10-1 overall and 1-6 in NAC play.

After a scoreless 30 minutes, Kylie Aither buried the Badgers' first goal of the game off of an assist from Ashlee Trayah to put the Badgers on the board 1-0. The score would hold into the half-time break.

In the second half of play, the Badgers dominated the field, bringing higher energy and faster play than the visitors. Despite that advantage, the Hornets' Kiya DeWitt was able to knock a ball past Johnson keeper, Nichole Weeks in the 77th minute. After knotting the game up, the Hornets hit a lull which allowed Prescott to come in hot off the bench for the Badgers and score two quick goals to seal the win for the Badgers.

Johnson outshot the visitors 20-8 and held the advantage in corner kicks 5-2. Weeks made three saves in the victory while Lyndon's Joannah Sargent made nine saves in the losing effort.

Johnson will travel to Plattsburgh St. on Tuesday for a non-conference game at 7:00pm in Plattsburgh New York while Lyndon hosts Me.-Fort Kent this weekend at 1:00pm.
