WSOC: Johnson Drops Senior Day Match to UMF

JOHNSON, Vt. - The Johnson State College women's soccer fell to UMaine-Farmington 3-0 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contest on Saturday afternoon at Minaert Field.

SCORING 

1st Half: No Scoring.

2nd Half: The Beavers (7-7, 4-2 NAC) broke the tie in the 49th minute when McKenna Brodeur stole the ball from a Johnson defender just inside the box and beat Johnson goalie Kaila Lemmer (Barnard, Vt.) on the breakaway for the 1-0 lead. UMF doubled their lead two minutes later when Sophie Manning sent a cross from the right side to Leah Stevens who headed the ball to give the Beavers a 2-0 lead. Lydia Roy scored the third Beaver goal in the 65th minute when she broke through the Johnson line and buried the final UMF goal.

Lemmer (3-9) stopped 16 of 19 shots and was tagged with the loss. Kiana Thompson (6-7) made five saves in the shutout.

SENIOR CELEBRATION

Prior to the game, Johnson seniors Kylie Aither (Hyde Park, Vt.), Katherine Fish (Lake Elmore, Vt.), Shannon Rooney (Waterville, Vt.) and Nichole Weeks (Barre, Vt.) were recognized for playing their final home contest at Minaert Field.
