Badgers Drop President's Cup Match 3-0 to NVU-Lyndon

JOHNSON, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's soccer team competed in a North Atlantic Conference and President's Cup Challenge match against rival NVU-Lyndon on Thursday evening after the game was rescheduled from weather issues on Tuesday.

SCORING

1st Half: Rachel Palladino opened up the game early for the Hornets scoring in the 10thminute of the first half. Both sides went back and forth and a break away by Dezirae Youngman resulted in a shot in the bottom right corner of the goal for the Badgers, but it was saved by Hornet goalkeeper Victoria McCormack. 

In the 23rdminute Eleanor Harrington took a shot from the top of the eighteen that was blocked by a Badger defender. Harrington continued to pursue the ball and got past the Badger back line to net the second goal of the night. The Badgers were unsuccessful in scoring for the remainder of the half and obtained a two-goal deficit at the break.

 

2nd Half: In the 47thminute it was Jessica Hillman of the Hornets that scored off a Harrington assist. The Hornet goal was the final goal scored in the contest. Youngman and Jordan Pelland led the Badgers with three shots on goal.

Aysha Hodgdon recorded twelve saves and played a full 90:00 minutes for the Badgers.

With the loss the Badgers move to 0-8 on the season and 0-3 in conference play. NVU-Lyndon improves to 1-7 overall and 1-2 in NAC play, the Hornets also earn a point in the race for the NVU President's Cup.
