Shealeigh Martin Commits to Women's Soccer for 2021 Season

JOHNSON, Vt.- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's soccer program and Head Coach Andrew Lafrenz have announced an additional commitment for the fall of 2021.

Shealeigh Martin a native of Springfield, Massachusetts and a student-athlete at Springfield Honors Academy has signed the necessary paperwork and plans to arrive to campus in the fall of 2021. Martin plans to pursue a degree in education with focus on music education and K-12 education.

"I chose NVU-Johnson because of the environment and because of the size of the school," said Martin. "Being in large crowded places was not something I wanted when I was looking at schools and I wanted to go to a school that wasn't part of a city."

At Springfield Honors Academy, Martin was a four-year member of the varsity girls' soccer team with three of those years as a starter in goal. Martin was also a three-year captain.

"When I first met Coach Lafrenz he seemed really nice and answered my questions about playing for a college program and NVU-Johnson. After our conversation, I began to think about taking up a second position to be more versatile on the field. I am extremely excited to join the Badger family and can only hope that I can compete at the next level."

With the addition of Martin, the NVU-Johnson women's soccer program has four players committed and Head Coach Andrew Lafrenz plans to announce additional commitments in the near future.
