Women's Soccer Celebrate a Homecoming Win over the Thomas Terriers

The Vermont State University Johnson women's soccer team put on a show Saturday in front of a large crowd on campus to celebrate Family and Homecoming weekend.

After a scoreless first half that saw Matt House (Grad Student, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ) and Abby Davis (First Year, East Longmeadow, MA) both hit the Thomas crossbar, the Badgers came out firing in the 2nd half.

It took less than 1 minute for Matt House to open the scoring and wow the crowd with a diving header off the cross from Brittney Love (First Year, Fair Haven, VT).  It was the 5th goal of the season for House.

The Badgers lead was extended to two after Love collected a pass from Denyce Ruiz (Senior, Yonkers, NY) that eluded the entire Terriers midfield and backline.  Love lofted a shot over the on rushing keeper that dropped into the net, and the celebration was on.

Isabel Atkisson (Sophomore, Baltimore, MD) went all 90 minutes in net and secured her first win and shutout of the season, supported by a strong defense that has allowed less than one goal per game to start the season.  With today's 3 saves verses the Terries Atkisson has earned to 100 careeer saves mark!

This was Johnson's first win over Thomas College since the 2014 season.
