Women's Soccer Win on the Road at SUNY Cobleskill

The Vermont State university Johnson women's soccer team triumphed with a 4-1 win at SUNY Cobleskill in a North Atlantic Conference match Saturday afternoon.  The Badgers improved to 6-1-2 and 2-0-1 in the NAC.  Cobleskill drops to 0-7-1 overall and 0-3 in the NAC.

The visitors opened the scoring up at the 5:02 mark after Matt House (Point Pleasant Beach, NJ) received a pass from Kali Wooster (Fairfax, VT) and beat a couple of Cobleskill defenders to find the back of the net.  House scored again in the 27th minute off a through ball from Brittney Love to push their lead to 2-0.  After a Tiger hand ball in the box in the 31st minute, Olivia Davis (Cadyville, NY) stepped up and buried the penalty kick to complete the first half scoring

At the half, Cobleskill had four shots to Johnson's 12.  Both teams had one corner each.

Johnson extended their lead to 4-0 very early in the second half before the Tigers even touched the ball.  Johnson completed a six pass sequence down the right side with Matt House finding Olivia Davis for a header and her second goal in the game.  

Cobleskill pulled one back in the 74th minute as forward Jojo Leubner (Marcellus, NY) completed the scoring with a shot from the top of the box .  The goal ended a remarkable 459 minute scoreless streak for the Badgers.  The streak included four consecutive shutouts.    

Johnson finished with 23 shots and 16 shots on target.  Cobleskill finished with 5 shots with 4 on target.  Izzy Atkisson (Baltimore, MD) had three saves and her third win of the season.  

Johnson returns to action on Tuesday, October 3rd with a 1:00 home game against Vermont State Lyndon in a non-conference match.
