Johnson State College women's tennis team hosted Green Mountain on Friday afternoon at Johnson and shutout the Eagles 8-0 in the Badgers first conference match of the season. The Badgers are now 2-5 overall and 1-0 in North East Atlantic Conference (NEAC) play. The Eagles slide to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in conference play. 

Johnson State swept the doubles matches before earning the match victory with two wins in first and second flight singles. 

All matches won by the visitors were done in straight-set fashion with the exception of fourth flight singles between Green Mountain's Paige Vlahos and Johnson's Ashley Fogg. The two were split after two sets, but could not complete a tie breaking third set due to darkness. 

Green Mountain will travel to Thomas College on Sunday for its second conference match on the year while Johnson next hosts defending conference champions, Colby-Sawyer College tomorrow at 1:00pm.
