Badgers Break Streak in 7-2 Loss to Spartans

Castletong took the victory against Johnson women's tennis 7-2 on Saturday afternoon at Johnson's tennis facility. The Badgers slide to 6-6 on the year and 4-3 in NEAC East action. 

The Badgers' pairings of Katherina Van Woerkom and  Annette KaminskiJana Somero and Nicole Monick, and Kali Covell and Ashley Fogg were swept by the Spartans 8-1, 8-2 and 8-5 respectively.
 

The visitors took all but two singles matches from the Badgers. At no. 4 singles, Somero came back twice from a 5-2 deficit to win 7-5, 6-7. Somero has won ten out of the past eleven singles and doubles matches that she has competed in.  Jordan Miller picked-up the other Badger victory against the Castleton no. 6 spot taking her sets 6-1, 6-0. 

The Badgers celebrated their lone senior, Annette Kaminski (pictured) with flowers and a tearful speech by Coach Michele Whitmore. Johnson will use the week to prepare for the NEAC East Championship at Colby-Sawyer on Saturday, October 10th.
