Badgers Battle Cardinals in Non-Conference Match

JOHNSON, Vt.- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's tennis team faced off against Plattsburgh State University in a non-conference match on Sunday afternoon. The Badgers lost the match by a score of 9-0.

 

DOUBLES

Grace Page and Samantha Kershner represented the Badgers in No. 1 doubles. The duo faced off against Sierra Barrett and Cydney Bond and dropped the first doubles match by a score of 8-0. The Cardinals controlled the remaining doubles matches as Iris Serrano and Kayla Hammond were next up against Sarah Hoeffner and Megan Blake. Blake and Hoeffner won by a score of 8-0. Kristen Tirrito and Sarah Sylvain fell in the final double's matchup of the afternoon by a score of 8-0.

SINGLES

In singles action it was Page competing in the No. 1 spot for the Badgers. Page faced Barrett and lost by a score of 6-1, 6-0. Kershner dropped No. 2 doubles to Bond by a score of 6-3, 6-0. Serrano faced Hoeffner in No. 3 singles and lost by a score of 6-1, 6-0. Hammond fell in No. 4 singles 6-1,6-2. Kristen Tirrito and Katelyn Tirrito rounded out singles but lost their match ups to give the Cardinals a complete day.

With the loss the Badgers fall to 0-4 on the year.
