Women't Tennis Loses Non-Conference Road Match to MCLA 6-3

BENNINGTON, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's tennis team dropped a non-conference tennis match to the MCLA Trailblazers on Wednesday afternoon by a score of 6-3 at the Bennington Tennis Center.

DOUBLES

Senior duo of Grace Page and Samantha Kershner faced off in No. 1 doubles against Briana Higgins and Mackenna Jordan in their final doubles match of the 2019 season. The Trailblazer duo edged Page and Kershner taking the win by a score of 8-3. Iris Serrano and Kayla Hammond fell in No. 2 doubles to MCLA's Jessica DuPont and Alyssa Keegan. The Badgers captured the win in No. 3 doubles in a deciding set as Katelyn Tirrito and Sarah Sylvain won by a score of 7-6, 7-3 over McKenna Clark and Samantha Schwantner.

SINGLES

Page competed in the final singles match of her career beating out DuPont 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 1 spot. Throughout her career, Page has won 13 singles matches that puts her in a tie for 6thplace overall in singles victories in the history of the program. Kershner represented the Badgers in No. 2 singles against Higgins but fell short losing by a score of 6-4, 6-2. Kershner finishes her career with 13 singles victories as well placing her in the top ten and tied for 6thoverall in program history.

MCLA controlled No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 singles. In the third spot it was Serrano who lost to Jordan by a score of 6-2, 6-1. Hammond dropped her match by a score of 6-4, 6-0 to Clark and Kristen Tirrito dropped her match by a score of 7-5, 6-2. Kate Tirrito concluded singles action winning No. 6 singles.

 

With the loss the Badgers conclude the 2019 season with an overall record of 2-10 and 2-4 in conference play.
