Senior Spotlight Series: Annika Dyhrberg

JOHNSON, Vt.- Next up on NVU-Johnson's Senior Spotlight Series is  member of the women's tennis program. It is our pleasure to feature Annika Dyhrberg!

First name: Annika Dyhrberg

City: Falmouth

State: Maine

Sport: Tennis

Major: Inclusive Childhood Education

What are your plans after graduation?

I plan to teach in a K-2 setting somewhere in New England.

What is one piece of advice you would give to your freshman self?

Join the tennis team sooner and continue to get involved on campus.

Which NVU faculty or staff member has made the greatest impact on you and why?

Michele Whitmore has definitely had the greatest impact on me. She has continuously pushed me to be a leader and also gave me a new sports passion, tennis, which I plan to continue playing even after I graduate.

What one class would you retake just for fun and why?

I would definitely retake advanced film photography with Victoria Zolnoski. She opened my eyes to the world of film photography, has such great energy, and teachers her students to look at the world from a different perspective.

What is the most unique thing about your hometown?

The most unique part of my hometown for me is that the house I grew up in was in part built by my great, great, grandfather when he came to this country. It's been in my family for over 100 years.

What is something that people may not know about you but should?

I'm a pretty good cook/baker and I love to make people food.

Other than the sport(s) you play, what is the other one you'd like to attempt?

My dad loves to golf, so I think it would be really fun to try that. I was also named in part after a golfer (Annika Sorenstam) so it would be cool in that aspect too.

What one professional athlete (past or present) would you like to have a conversation with and why?

As much as I love athletics I don't really have one standout professional athlete that I'd like to talk to. I guess if I had to pick I would say Dustin Pedroia from the Red Sox since my dad and I always enjoyed watching him play.

List two things that appear on your post-NVU bucket list?

I want to get a teaching job and a dog!

What was your most memorable moment in competition during your Badger career?

I don't have one from competition for tennis since I just started playing this year, but I will say that the compassion and support I felt on that team was very memorable.
