Men's and Women's Track and Field Celebrate Senior Day

JOHNSON, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's and women's track and field program is celebrating its Senior Day virtually and recognizing the programs three seniors Brooke Scheier, Nikola Knapova and Michael Weston.

Scheier a two-year member of the women's track and field program comes to NVU-Johnson from Milford, New Jersey. Scheier joined the program in the spring of 2019 and made an immediate impact for the Badgers. In the 2019 North Atlantic Conference Championship Scheier placed fifth in women's triple jump to earn two points for Johnson, recording a distance of 8.84 meters. Scheier followed with an 11th place finish in women's long jump with a distance of 3.88 meters.

In the words of Head Coach Shawn Woods, "Brooke was a versatile athlete on the track team. She competed in all the jumping events, scoring points in the triple jump in the NAC championship. More importantly she was a leader for a young team through both her great work ethic and positive personality. As an athlete she always reached for more knowledge and approached everything with a smile."

Senior, Nikola Knapova and Michael Weston joined the NVU-Johnson women's track and field program in the spring of 2020. Knapova planned to compete in both sprints and jumps while Weston would compete in distance running but due to the situations that occurred with COVID-19 neither athlete officially had the opportunity to compete this season.

The Badgers thank Brooke, Michael, and Nikola for their contributions to Badgers track and field and to NVU-Johnson athletics as a whole and we wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.
