Dave Ringwood Announced as Head Track and Field Coach

Vermont State University Johnson Director of Athletics, Greg Eckman, has announced the hiring of Dave Ringwood as Head Track and Field Coach and Sports Information Director. "To be offered the opportunity to lead a program with a shared vision of growth, success, and purpose is a privilege and honor," said Ringwood. "The future is bright and I am grateful to be a part of it."

"We are excited to bring on Dave Ringwood as our new Sports Information Director and Track & Field Coach," said Eckman. "Throughout the search process Coach Ringwood was able to demonstrate through past action his effectiveness in recruiting, growing programs, and focusing on the well-being of the student-athletes he coaches."

Ringwood comes to Vermont State Johnson from Pratt Institute where he served as the Head Men's and Women Cross Country and Track & Field Coach. Pratt's Cannoneers experienced newfound success under Ringwood's leadership, where the T&F record books were rewritten across all event groups. Both the men's and women's programs secured 3rd place team finishes at the ECAC Championships, in addition to capturing individual titles in XC (2021, 2022) and hammer throw (2022). Prior to Pratt Institute, Ringwood served as the Assistant Coach at Loyola University Maryland (D1), where he was primary recruiter for the men's program.

"With Coach Ringwood's experience as an NCAA Athlete and Coach, he has found a good balance of becoming a caring, compassionate, and supportive coach for his student-athletes," said Eckman. Ringwood graduated from Johns Hopkins University as a member of their first track and field conference championship team. Since graduating, he continues to compete on the track and roads, capturing titles in the USATF East Region 10,000m and winning the 2022 Queens Marathon, while gearing training towards the US Olympic Trials marathon standard.
