TRIATHLON: Badgers Finish Strong at Buzzards Bay Sprint Triathlon

WESTPORT, MA — The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's triathlon team had another strong performance at the Buzzards Bay Sprint Triathlon on Sunday, September 16th. Sophomore Ellery Kiefer (Wayland, MA) led the way for the Badgers, coming in 10th for the women's collegiate division with 66 competitors. The Badgers faced competitors including Dartmouth, Northeastern, UCONN, US Coast Guard Academy, and UVM Club.

Kiefer continued to excel in the swimming portion of the competition, as she took 6th place in the 1/4 mile race with a time of 7:26. Kiefer earned the 10th place spot in the bike portion of the competition, clocking in at 40:06 for the 14 mile ride. Her performance placed Kiefer at 17th out of 150 total female competitors.

Senior Ashley Wood (Queensbury, NY) powered past over half of her collegiate competitors in the biking and running portions with solid times of 43:46 and 26:31 to take 27th and 32nd. Wood came in 38th in the division and 75th out of 150 female competitors.

Senior Molly Cross (Colchester, Vt) continued to excel in the swimming and biking portions of the competition with times of 9:13 and 46:02. This performance earned her 33rd and 39th in the division in those races to give her an overall finish of 46th and 88th out of 150 female competitors.

NEXT UP

Johnson will travel to Longmont, Colorado to compete at the West Regional Qualifier on Sunday, September 23rd. The race is slated to begin at 8:00am.
